Call for Papers for 8th Annual Research Conference Navigating the Changing Landscape: Central Banks in a New Normal Hosted by Central Banks of Ukraine and Poland (20–21 June 2024)

Call for Papers and Participation

On 20–21 June 2024, the National Bank of Ukraine and Narodowy Bank Polski will host the VIII Annual Research Conference Navigating the Changing Landscape: Central Banks in a New Normal. The event is coming back to Kyiv after a forced break and will take place in hybrid format: onsite and online.

During the conference, representatives of central banks, the academic community, international financial institutions, and well-known think tanks will discuss the specifics of central banking in times of severe shocks and extreme uncertainty. The event’s working language is English.

We encourage you to submit research papers related to the general theme of the conference.

Acceptable topics include but are not limited to:  

  • post-war recovery through European integration
  • sanctions: enforcement and compliance
  • central banking in a new normal
  • role of supply and demand shocks
  • income, wealth, and inflation inequality
  • labor market structural changes
  • transition to sustainable practices
  • supply chain disruptions
  • new dimensions of policy: regional and urban revitalization
  • role of new technologies in rebuilding financial markets

The two-day event will feature keynotes, policy panels, and presentations of research papers in a blended online/onsite format.

Gita Gopinath, First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, and Frank Smets, Adviser to the Counsel to the Executive Board at the European Central Bank, are confirmed keynote speakers.

Paper submission

Authors interested in presenting a paper at the conference should submit the full text (in pdf format) or an extended abstract of their paper to [email protected]. In the subject box of your email, please specify “ARC2024 Title of Paper Name of Author.”

No submission fee is charged. 

The deadline for submission is 29 March 2024 (12 p.m. EET). Authors of accepted papers will be notified by 15 April 2024.

In your email, please also indicate your desired format of participation in the event (online or in person).

The conference’s selection committee includes: Yuriy Gorodnichenko (University of California, Berkeley), Chairperson, Oleksiy Kryvtsov (Bank of Canada), Krzysztof Makarski and Jacek Suda (Narodowy Bank Polski), as well as Sergiy Nikolaychuk, Volodymyr Lepushynskyi, Oleksandr Fаrynа and Mihnea Constantinescu (National Bank of Ukraine).
